Ben Walker
Biography
Ben Walker is an artist and illustrator living in Fair Oaks, California. His paintings of bears with guns, singing cowboys, flying machine operators, and other odd inhabitants of The Old West have shown in galleries throughout The U.S.. Walker is also the creator of an alternative life drawing studio called Pompsicle where artists gather to draw from costumed models and “real life characters” like furries, roller-girls, and break dancers.
Walker's passion for art took off while in Junior High school. He spent much of his free time copying from comic books. In his teens Walker moved on to making and distributing his own underground-ish comics.
During the 1990's Walker worked as a graphic designer for various software companies, creating interactive Flash cartoons, illustrations and interface graphics. When the technology bubble burst Ben realized he had gotten too far from his true passion; Drawing and painting. He enrolled at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He came out with a BFA in Traditional Animation and Illustration.

Artist's Statement
What was that enormous mass of fur and horns that flashed passed the elixir salesman in the woods? The singing cowboy heard it snorting restlessly just past the light of his campfire. Mr. Winchester is not concerned with such foolishness. He has a flying machine to complete by morning.
Imagine what it must have been like for those living in America’s eastern cities to hear tales from the Western Frontier. Those who had made the journey and returned told of their adventures among the mysterious creatures and people that called the unforgiving West home. Images created by Ben Walker tell tales of mystery and excitement that make the ladies squeal with fear and delight as their men quietly slip away to buy passage to The West.
